Install Crown Molding Step by Step
Crown molding encapsulates a large family of moldings, which are designed to gracefully flare out to a finished top edge. Crown molding is typically applied along the seams where ceiling meets wall. Almost people used to decorative their house themselves so now you can follow the step by step guide to install the PU crown molding easily.
Preparation:
First, you need to prepare some tools bellow:
- Nail gun
- Nails
- White glue
- Damp cloth
- Crow molding
STEP 1
Before installation, apply white glue onto the two back sides of the moulding. This will increase the adhesiveness of the moulding with the wall and ceiling.
STEP 2
Take the moulding with white glue onto the wall. Apply nails with a nail gun onto the joint of product and the wall or ceiling.
STEP 3
Apply nails with a nail gun onto the joint of product and the wall or ceiling. Keep a distance of 20 cm in between nails. Can apply 2 to 3 nails onto the middle of the moulding. After the moulding is fixed, secure the entire moulding with nail gun.
STEP 4
After the moulding is properly nailed, use a damp cloth to wipe off the excessive glue. We recommend to use a damp cloth, because dry cloth may get stuck by the glue.
Installation Reminders:
- When nailing crown moulding on the site, take note of the sequence, either from right to left or from left to right. Install sequentially to the other end. We do not recommend separate installation on both ends.
- Marking the crown moulding depends on the situation of the site. You can mark for the entire area or mark them one by one. Then mark on the moulding, and you will be able to cut the correct size.
- The technique of hand-sawing a crown moulding is as follow:
- Place the moulding on a platform.
- Cutting angle is a straight line from the plane to the platform.
- Handsaw in straight line from the top point to the bottom point.
- Complete sawing in one time. Do not stop at the middle.
